The Joint Administration and Matriculations Board (JAMB) is set to kick start the Integrated Brochure and Syllabus System (IBASS).

The Joint Administration and Matriculations Board (JAMB) is set to kick start the Integrated Brochure and Syllabus System (IBASS).

Quite recently JAMB introduced a system where the Syllabus and Brochure for every year is produced on a CD and distributed. This CD contained data on every course offered in the various Institutions along with the syllabus for all subjects to be taken for the exam. This system has over time been very efficient and a massive cost saving measure for JAMB.

JAMB has further looked into the existing system and further sort out better ways of achieving their goal which led to the creation of IBASS.

It will help facilitate the following:

  1.      A much needed Database of programmes, Requirements and Carrying capacities of all Programmes in Institutions in the country.
  2.      Platform access provided to all Regulatory Bodies to facilitate instant changes to Programmes across all Institutions in the country.
  3.      View Only Modes for the entire database of programmes and requirements for all institutions.
  4.      Workflow for Institutions to apply electronically for changes which can be approved by Regulatory Bodies within the system.
  5.      Much needed Search and Matching criteria for Programmes with similar requirements.

This platform will also be beneficial to:

  1.      Regulatory Bodies
  2.      JAMB Admissions Representative to modify the Brochure and Syllabus electronically.
  3.      All Institutions can view their various profiles and verify information about Programme Requirements, required course combinations, carrying capacities (Quota) and General Information
  4.      Candidates to view course updates, Universities requirements and JAMB information.

With IBASS, JAMB will potentially solve the much needed problem Regulatory Bodies have regarding exact number of Programmes, Accreditation Status, Carrying Capacity (Quota) and permitted course combinations for various Programmes. It is indeed a step in the right direction.
