Cinfores proudly participated in the commemoration of Girls in ICT Day, following an invitation from the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA). The event reinforced Cinfores’ commitment to empowering young girls with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to thrive in today’s digital world.
With the theme “AI for Development: Girls Shaping the Digital Future,” the program provided a vibrant platform to inspire, equip, and actively engage girls in meaningful conversations and practical learning around technology and artificial intelligence.
Representing the Cinfores team are Naomi Oko-Jaja, Winnie Nnadi, and Amara Peter who facilitated impactful sessions that blended knowledge-sharing with hands-on experience. Their engagement focused on key areas designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and deepen participants’ understanding of technology.
The session commenced with an insightful discussion on the general use of technology, introducing participants to how digital tools can be leveraged for learning, creativity, and everyday problem-solving. Emphasis was placed on the importance of digital literacy as a critical foundation for future opportunities in an increasingly tech-driven world.
Transitioning from theory to practice, participants engaged in a hands-on activity centered on using technology to solve real-life problems. This interactive segment fostered critical thinking, innovation, and collaboration, as the girls explored practical solutions to challenges within their communities.
A major highlight of the event was a debate on the advantages and disadvantages of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The session was both engaging and thought-provoking, with participants confidently articulating their perspectives on the opportunities AI presents, alongside the ethical and societal concerns it raises. The debate showcased not only their growing understanding but also their ability to think critically about emerging technologies.
In recognition of excellence and to further encourage learning, Cinfores awarded a laptop to the best speaker in the debate.
This gesture underscored the organization’s commitment to identifying, nurturing, and rewarding outstanding potential among young girls in technology.
Cinfores’ participation in this initiative reflects its broader mission to drive digital inclusion and capacity development, particularly among young girls. By creating opportunities such as this, the organization continues to nurture a new generation of innovators, problem-solvers, and leaders poised to shape Africa’s digital future.
As technology continues to redefine the world, initiatives like Girls in ICT Day remain vital in ensuring that girls are not just participants, but active drivers of innovation and sustainable development.
