The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has approved the minimum admission scores for candidates seeking admission into tertiary institutions across Nigeria for the 2026 academic session.
The decision was reached during the 2026 Policy Meeting, where stakeholders in the education sector agreed on the acceptable admission benchmarks for various categories of institutions nationwide.
According to the approved policy, universities in Nigeria will admit candidates with a minimum score of 150, while Colleges of Nursing will accept candidates who score 140 and above.
In addition, the minimum admission score for Polytechnics, Monotechnics, Colleges of Agriculture, Colleges of Education, and Innovation Enterprise Institutions (IEIs) has been set at 100.
The meeting also reaffirmed that the minimum age requirement for admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria remains sixteen (16) years.

Universities — 150
Colleges of Nursing — 140
Polytechnics — 100
Monotechnics — 100
Colleges of Agriculture — 100
Colleges of Education — 100
Innovation Enterprise Institutions (IEIs) — 100
Education stakeholders are expected to align their admission processes with the approved benchmarks as preparations commence for the 2026 admission exercise.
